You can receive free weekly credit reports until April 2022.
Since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic over a year ago, financial fraud has been on the rise. In addition to the scamming and phishing occurring prior to the Coronavirus outbreak, scammers have been using the vulnerability of the American population due to COVID-19 to obtain personal identifying information and steal consumers’ identify, thus wreaking havoc on people’s financial health.
In 2021 the three credit reporting bureaus (Equifax, TransUnion and Experian) gave people weekly access to monitor their credit for free, and according to the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) they will be extending that benefit until April 20th, 2022. During this age of higher fraud, this is great news for consumers. Normally consumers have access to one free credit report per year, however with the ability to check your credit report weekly you can help catch any fraudulent activity immediately.
